| This week is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. In these challenging economic times, more and more people are finding themselves without enough money to provide food or shelter for their families and funding to assist those in need is limited. In order to raise awareness around hunger and homelessness, the City of New Haven will be hosting the second annual Tent City on the Green on Thursday, November 19th from 6 to 10 p.m. Last year, this event raised over $40,000 to support the City’s overflow shelter. I encourage residents to stop by the Green to show your support for homelessness awareness, make a donation or sponsor a tent with a group of friends. For more information about Tent City, please contact Lynn Lyons at: llyons@newhavenct.net. Mayor’s Night Out This Wednesday, November 18th at 7 p.m., I will be hosting Mayor’s Night Out for Wards 11, 12, 13 and 14 in the Victoria Room of Bella Vista. I, along with representatives from various City departments and agencies, will be available to discuss issues that impact these wards and to answer any questions or concerns that residents may have.
