    Mayor Tony HarpBest wishes for May, everyone!: At this time of year there’s every reason to enjoy the sights, sounds, and other symbols of spring. Fresh, green grass, blossoming trees, and beautiful flowers all signal renewal; birds singing early each morning present another seasonal rite, and the feel of a warm spring breeze makes everything seem in its place.

    One highlight this month is Mother’s Day – on May 8th – when we honor motherhood and the remarkable significance of every mother. Americans have celebrated Mother’s Day since 1914, when President Wilson established the second Sunday in May as such. Now nearly 100 nations share the custom.
