    Mayor Tony HarpHistory and tradition to be celebrated this 4th of July weekend.: New Haven has big plans for this coming weekend when, as you know, Americans will celebrate this nationís 239th birthday!

    As usual, the city will host a fireworks display set to begin Saturday evening at 9:15; this year attendees are encouraged to watch from Wilbur Cross High School Field because no spectators or vehicles will be allowed on the East Rock summit that evening. The fireworks display can also be viewed from any location where the Angel of Peace is visible.

    Prior to the fireworks display, the United States Coast Guard Band will perform at Wilbur Cross High School Field beginning at 8:00 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and will include a wide variety of music genres.
