The Bureau of Weights and Measures is a State-mandated consumer protection agency that safeguards all consumers in their purchase of goods and services in the City of New Haven by monitoring all measuring and weighing devices used in the City, i.e., gasoline station meters, heating oil truck meters, taxi cab meters, wholesale and retain scales, and prepackaged foods, and investigating all consumer complaints filed through the Bureau.
