    NEW HAVEN POLICE MAKE SIGNIFICANT ARRESTS OF INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR EAST ROCK ROBBERIES

    (10/27/2008) NEW HAVEN- New Haven Police arrested two individuals tied to robberies in the Citys East Rock neighborhood and of Yale students earlier this fall. Michael DeMartino, a 29-year-old New Haven Resident was arrested today and charged with five counts of robbery in the 1st degree, 5 counts of larceny in the 2nd degree, 4 counts of conspiracy to commit robbery in the 1st degree and 4 counts of conspiracy to commit larceny in the 2nd degree for four separate incidents. The incidents include: September 25th on Center and Orange where the victim was a Yale student, September 26th at Humphrey and Whitney where three Yale students were robbed, September 26th on Orange Street where a Yale student was robbed and September 27th at Edgewood Park where he attempted to commit robbery. DeMartino was arrested on the scene on September 27th for the Edgewood Park attempted robberies but was charged today for the three other incidents. DeMartino is being held on $300,000 bond.

    Also arrested for her role in at least two of DeMartinos robberies was 23-year-old Iris Rosario of New Haven. Rosario was charged today with four counts of conspiracy to commit robbery in the 1st degree and four counts of conspiracy to commit larceny in the 2nd degree for her involvement in the Humphrey/Whitney and Edgewood Park incidents. Rosario is being held on $150,000 bond.

    Detectives J. Naccarato and C. Perrone, Officer R. Forte and Sgt. D. Marino are all credited with these two arrests that impact the East Rock and Yale communities.
