MAYOR APPOINTS COPORATION COUNSEL
(11/8/2007) NEW HAVEN- Today, Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. announced that John Ward, the Acting Corporation Counsel since the departure of Tom Ude through today, would become the full-time Corporation Counsel for the City.
“John brings significant experience and knowledge to the table,” said DeStefano. “Since he began serving as Interim Corporation Counsel in June, he has demonstrated his abilities to lead this department, protect the City and negotiate business transactions in the best interest of New Haven and its residents. I have a great deal of respect and trust in John and am pleased to have him serve in this position.”
Ward, a native of Manchester, England, has lived in New Haven since 1993. In 1997, Ward left the law firm of Pullman and Comley, LLC, to serve as Assistant and then Deputy Corporation Counsel, a position he held for 3 years before returning to Pullman and Comley as a member in 2000. Prior to returning to his position as Deputy Corporation Counsel in September of 2005, Ward was a partner in the New Haven firm of Milazzo and Ward, LLC.
“Having lived in this city for 14 years, I’ve had the opportunity to see it change dramatically in such a positive way. Being able to be part of the City’s development, growth and constant progress is something I thoroughly enjoy; it’s what keeps me excited about coming to work everyday,” said Ward. “I look forward to assuming this position officially and continuing to work to protect the interests of our City and fellow residents.”
