2 NEW HAVEN POLICE VETERANS SELECTED TO LEAD PATROL AND FAMILY SERVICES DIVISIONS

(10/25/2007) NEW HAVEN- Captain Bryan Kearney and Lieutenant Peter Reichard, experienced leaders within the New Haven Police Department, have been selected to head two major divisions of the force: Patrol and Family Services, respectively.

“The community relies heavily on police services from patrol and family services, therefore it is vital that we have strong leadership and organization within these divisions to ensure residents are receiving the high quality service and quick response time they deserve,” said Chief Francisco Ortiz. “I know we’ve made great decisions in selecting Captain Kearney and Lieutenant Reichard to take on these roles. They have the experience, skills and abilities necessary to be successful in their new positions.”

Captain Stephen Verrelli will leave his role as Officer in Charge of the Patrol Division on November 2nd passing on the title and responsibilities to Kearney. Kearney’s new role will officially be as interim-Officer in Charge. Initially hired in February of 1987, Kearney was promoted to Sergeant in March 1990, Lieutenant in November 1994, and Captain in April 1998. He has been the shift supervisor on C squad in Patrol since June 2001. Previous assignments include District Manager of Newhallville, Deputy Patrol Resource Coordinator, and Officer in Charge of Internal Values & Ethics. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Lieutenant Peter Reichard will become interim Officer in Charge of the Family Services Division.
