(New Haven, CT) New Havenís Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by Peopleís United Bank, will take place tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th, beginning at 4pm on the New Haven Green.
The free event will feature numerous free family-friendly activities including

All events are free and will run from 4 to 8 pm.
Then, at 5:45 the lights on the tree on the Green will be turned on in a ceremony that will include Mayor John DeStefano, Jr., Peopleís United Bankís Michael Casparino and New Haven resident Eric Rogers.
Rogers was one of many people who donated a coat during a Coat Drive the City held to benefit area homeless shelters. All donors were entered into a drawing to select the person who will flip the switch and light this yearís tree on the New Haven Green. Rogers has decided to bestow the honor to his six-year old grandson who will join officials on stage for the countdown and turn on over 25,000 lights that adorn this yearís tree.
For the fourth year in a row, Peopleís United Bank has donated $20,000 to cover the cost of this annual holiday celebration in New Haven.
Most downtown shops and restaurants will be open late tomorrow (Thursday) night to accommodate the thousands of visitors that will come to attend the celebration.
The event will be hosted by WTNH Meteorologist Gil Simmons.
