WANTED SUSPECT IN JULY 9 FAIR HAVEN INCIDENT ARRESTED
(8/2/2007) NEW HAVEN- New Haven Police arrested 28-year-old Shawn Barham Wednesday evening in connection with an investigation that began on July 9. The investigation began after an acquaintance informed police that Barham was in possession of an AK47 assault rifle and was potentially a threat to the public. Barham, who was thought to be armed and dangerous, was taken into custody in a courtyard of the Brewery Square apartment complex by uniformed officers despite his attempts to escape through an apartment window.
Barham was arrested on five outstanding warrants from both New Haven and Connecticut State Police including felony charges involving criminal possession of a firearm and failure to appear in court. The AK-47 assault rifle attributed to Barham was seized by police along with two loaded ammunition clips on July 9.
Barham is being held on a $230,000 bond for the New Haven warrants and an additional $150,000 for the Connecticut State Police warrant.
