SIX RESPONSES RECEIVED IN COLISEUM SITE RFQ

(4/23/2008) NEW HAVEN- The City of New Haven is pleased to announce that receipt of six responses from developer-driven teams seeking the opportunity to transform the Coliseum site into an vibrant mixed-use urban streetscape. These submissions are in response to the City’s solicitation for qualified developers who are interested in redeveloping the former Coliseum site. The site is currently a 4.5-acre surface parking lot located at 275 South Orange Street in downtown New Haven. The following are the respondents and their teams:

    • Archstone (New York, NY), CA White, Charter Realty, Pelli Clarke Pell Architects, Diversfied Technology Consultants

    • Avalon Bay Communities, Inc. (Shelton, CT)

    • Heyman Properties, LLC (Westport, CT)

    • Northland Investment Corporation (Newton, MA)

    • Related Companies, LLP (New York, NY) and Robert Orr & Associates, LLC (New Haven, CT)

    • The Richman Group Development Corporation (Greenwich, CT), McCormack Baron Salazar, Fusco, and Herbert S. Newman and Partners, P.C.

The demolition of the former New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum was completed in August 2007 and the property was converted into a temporary surface parking lot, which opened on December 1, 2007. On February 10, 2008 the City released a Request for Qualifications to identify developers who are interested in and qualified to redevelop the former Coliseum site so that it contributes to the overall long-term growth and vitality of the city.

In the next month, the City will be analyzing the responses that were submitted and working with a review committee to review the qualifications of these teams.
