Mayor John DeStefano, Jr., Names New Public Information Officer And Deputy Chief Of Staff
(3/25/2007) JESSICA MAYORGA AND PAUL NUNEZ TO START IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POSITIONS OVER THE NEXT WEEK
NEW HAVEN – Mayor John DeStefano, Jr. announced today that Jessica Mayorga will be starting as the Public Information Officer for the City of New Haven on Tuesday, and Paul Nunez will be moving from his position as Legislative Liaison to Deputy Chief of Staff on April 2nd.
“I have great confidence that these two appointments will well serve this community and my office,” said Mayor DeStefano. “Jessica brings impressive policy and communications experience that will be a valuable asset in her new position. Paul has earned my confidence over the last two years, and is the by far best person to take on his new responsibilities.”
Jessica Mayorga has served in policy and management capacities at education policy organizations, and on both sides of communications as a spokesperson for the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards and as an on-air radio personality. She holds a BA in Communications from the University of Maryland and an ED.M. in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard School of Education. Ms. Mayorga also has extensive experience in outreach to the Latino community.
Paul Nunez has served as the Legislative Liaison to the State Capitol since January 2005, and worked for the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities prior to that position. Mr. Nunez is a native of Hartford, and has a BA from Trinity College. In his new role, he will work intra-governmentally on implementing administration priorities, outreach with the broader community, and as the Mayor’s liaison to the Board of Aldermen.
