Loan Program
The purpose of the Small Business Initiative (SBI) Loan Program is to expand opportunities for economic development by making loansavailable to small businesses that could not otherwise secure affordable financing from traditional lending institutions. Loan recipients must be legitimate, for-profit businesses located in the City of New Haven with the potential to increase employment opportunities, generate sustainable economic activity, or provide products and services that benefit the local community.
The SBI Loan Program will assist start-up businesses and existing businesses in New Haven's neighborhoods and downtown. The objective of the Loan Program is to strengthen the
small business community by helping small businesses profitably compete using 21st century
business practices and technologies, and by assisting small businesses to establish long term relationships with mainstream financial institutions.
SBI is more than a loan program. We are an organization established in 1998 to promote
the advancement of one of the fastest growing segments of our economy. Small businesses need support and SBI provides it- with capital resources, targeted technical assistance, and other core business development services. New Haven's future depends on the small business community.
