Mayor John DeStefano, Jr.
 From The Desk of The Mayor
 Dear Friends::
This is Teacher Appreciation Week! New Haven Public School Teachers are a talented and dedicated group of men and women who don’t always receive the recognition they deserve for their hard work. This week, let’s make sure to take the time to thank our City’s educators for all that they do. In their classrooms, teachers have the opportunity to connect and interact with New Haven’s youth in a way that few others can. They make a difference in the lives of our kids and in our communities. As we celebrate teachers this week, we should look at what we all can do to serve as educators in the lives of our youth. We should all make a commitment to reach out and mentor, tutor or serve as a resource for at least one child in our community.

This event is organized by Community Mediation, Inc. At this event I will speak to the importance of community involvement and the need for all of us to work together in the spirit of justice, the cornerstone of Father Nash’s legacy.
