Community RecPass and Kick First Round Competition
All children aged 9 – 15 years old invited to compete!
September 7th at Troup School, 3 PM – 5 PM.

Pass & Kick Finals
September 14th @ Goffe Street 6 PM – 8 PM

September 17th @ Yale Bowl, Starting Time: 10 PM

Community RecGirls/Boys Basketball Clinics
Girls and Boys - ages 8-10 and 11-13
Six consecutive Friday nights beginning October 14th
$10/for 6 sessions (must have 10 participants)

Kayak Rescue ClinicSwimming Lessons - Fall 2011

Registration has begun for Fall Swimming Lessons at John Martinez on James Street. Lessons start in early October on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and run for six weeks.

Audubon Connecticut’s support of this event was made possible by the generosity of The Jeniam Foundation and the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

Suggested donation: $5/car. Proceeds go towards next year’s event!

The BirdsSummer Movies in Edgewood Park: THE BIRDS
Friday, September 9, 7:30pm

Join your neighbors for a night of fresh air, fun, and entertainment. A screening of Hitchcock's movie classic "The Birds" will be shown in Edgewood Park. Come early to grab a seat and enjoy free popcorn! Co-sponsored by the City of New Haven Dept. of Parks, Recreation & Trees and Friends of Edgewood Park, with support from the Tremaine Foundation.

Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument Restoration at East Rock Summit

Conservation treatment has begun for the lower bronze work of the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, located at the summit of East Rock Park. The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument was originally dedicated in June of 1887.

Cracks and holes are being repaired, bronze surfaces are being cleaned and repatinated, and footings are being secured and protected from weather and nature. Come to East Rock Summit to watch the restoration in progress.

Edgewood ParkFruit Trees and Berry Bushes Coming to the Park!
Edgewood Park Orchard Project

Join Friends of Edgewood Park (FOEP) to plant 45+ Fruit Trees and Berry Bushes in the 123 acre Edgewood Park. Grassroots group Friends of Edgewood Park rallied the community to vote for its orchard project in a national contest and ultimately won a fruit tree orchard Aug. 1.

So come Labor Day weekend, volunteers will plant 45 fruit trees and a dozen or so berry bushes in the 123-acre park that borders Westville, Edgewood, Beaver Hills and the West River neighborhoods.

They are a non-profit group which organizes volunteers to pick up our farmer's surplus food and delivers it to the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. Please consider volunteering one Sunday.
