The CIO (Chief Information Officer) works for the Mayor and operates under the Mayor's broad policy direction. The CIO directs and manages the City's information technology (IT) and telecommunications systems and activities. The CIO supervises the Managers of the Information Services Department and exercises indirect supervision over all employees within the Information Services Department. Leads and develops technology strategic plans and implementation strategies. Provides leadership and advice to the Mayor, Economic Development Administrator and Chief Administrative Officer and their respective Department Heads in integrating and aligning technology with business plan objectives. PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE

This is a position as a Public Health Nurse in the Department of Health, City of New Haven.
The Public Health Nurse will assume responsibility for providing professional nursing care and expertise to individuals and their families in one or more public schools, non-public schools, and in the community. Primary emphasis will be on the health needs of school age children and youth. In this capacity, the nurse strengthens the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning, and by promoting optimal levels of wellness for students and families. The Public Health Nurse implements state laws, local boards of health and education policies and procedures relative to school and community health services, and adheres to standard nursing practice.
The Public Health Nurse is accountable to the nursing director, coordinators or their designees, who will periodically observe, review and evaluate work performance. The Public Health Nurse's responsibilities will also include assignments to the Department of Health community programs.

Candidate must possess a valid, current Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Connecticut. Under limited supervision is responsible for monitoring the activities of the Communications Center. Work involves coordinating, scheduling, and managing personnel in the Communications Center, as well as handling call-taking and dispatching responsibilities as needed (i.e. if and when the qualified members of Local 884 are unavailable or do not volunteer for such assignment). Responsible for ensuring that all radio, telephone and computer systems are operating properly and that all 911 and non-emergency calls are handled consistently, professionally, efficiently and appropriately. Three years of progressively responsible experience in public telecommunications or dispatching, and the necessary knowledge, abilities and skills as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Knowledge of the State of Connecticut 911 system and the routing of 911 calls. NATURE OF WORK:
This is skilled work in electronic and electrical work (journeyman level) related to construction, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair but not limited to electronic signs, traffic signal and all traffic sign/electronics related equipment, incident management cameras, communication infrastructures such as copper, fiber optic and maintain street lighting. Additional work maybe assigned as needed, including occasional assignment for other electrical work in City owned facilities or infrastructure as directed. Work is performed according to established standards and practices of OSHA, NESC and IMSA and is performed under the supervision of the Traffic Signal Superintendent.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from high school or equivalent; and at least 4 years of experience and training leading to unlimited electrical journeyperson's license (E2) or, limited electrical line journeyperson's license (L2). Also, the knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Knowledge of principles of electrical and electronic work. NATURE OF WORK
This class is accountable for performing a wide variety of general clerical functions including basic processing, reception, filing, record keeping, and typing. The variety of work differs among departments of assignment. The principal emphasis is upon the wide variety of clerical tasks performed, which require the application of independent judgment and clerical knowledge and independent action and discretion on problems encountered. Until the more difficult phases of a job are learned, an employee works under relatively close supervision, but thereafter detailed instructions are received only when changes in procedures are made.
